NVSO exists to offer residents of northern Virginia 50 years old and over a chance to meet one another and compete. The annual September event promotes health, makes the public aware of the senior population's abilities, and promotes the use of recreation facilities in the region, the NVSO website says.

Additional events continue through Sept. 26. For a daily schedule of events, check the website at www.nvso,us or call 703-228-4721.
