Documents in the Arlington Public School Board's docket for tonight show that a plan to revamp the Washington-Lee High School softball  field have risen to $1.3 million which includes construction contingency fees of 10 percent plus an additional two percent overall. In the document, staff calls the fees "higher than typical."

The reason for the increased contingencies involve potentially bad weather and potentially bad soil underneath the field. The original base bid from July came in at $802,000, staff wrote in the documents. The main bid runs about $1 million without the contingencies.

Outrageous

This expenditure was totally unnecessary. The Quincy Park baseball field could have been renovated for $500,000. School Board and County Board are out of control. Dump all incumbents.
