They are a sign of the times: permits were filed with the county on Friday to install four new relocatable classrooms on the Ashlawn Elementary School grounds. Two of the classrooms go on one side of the main school building and two on the other.

Relocatables, also known as trailers, are common sights at elementary schools all over Arlington, especially in north Arlington. This is one of the ways that the schools must deal with overloaded school buildings until new elementary schools are built and the boundaries that dictate which child goes where are fixed.
