Let me introduce the community to Todd Freimuth, our new intern at the Merc. He’s a great young writer and world traveler, and when he told me he’d like to do some work this fall with the Merc, I was excited. If we can get interns of his quality all the time, we’ll be living large.
I’ve known Todd for almost two years. He was a student in one of my classes at Montgomery College and then ran the student newspaper there. He plans to attend Towson State University in the spring.
Over the summer, Todd filled the last pages of his passport with stamps from South America, where he interned for a short while in Brazil before doing some travel writing on his own.
He caught the eye of Letsgo.com, the budget travel people. They put him on their homepage more than once. His stories: Four Cheap Things to Do in Sao Paulo; Eating in Brazil on a Backpacker’s Budget; Gypsies of Gerais.
He has already given us one story, a preview of Saturday’s county board meeting, but you’ll see his work a lot on our pages.
We plan to, in true journalistic style, work the skin off his fingers. Welcome aboard, Todd!
