Volunteers test the water quality, or healthiness, of local streams. Water quality monitoring includes doing some basic chemical tests of the stream water, and sampling the aquatic insects that live in the stream. Volunteers can become stream monitors by taking a training class, and then joining a stream monitoring teams. The teams go out to several locations in Arlington County every 3 months.
