Help your new neighbors by serving as a conversation partner for non-native English speakers at the Columbia Pike Branch Library at regularly scheduled English Conversation group meetings, held on Saturday mornings 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers should be interested in meeting people from other cultures, able to engage people in a pleasant, welcoming and encouraging manner as well as speak English clearly and correctly. They must also be dependable and willing to commit to participating for at least six months. Training will be provided!

Become A Stream Monitor And Help Arlington's Streams

Sponsor: Environmental Services OSEM | Location: Arlington, VA 22201

Volunteers test the water quality, or healthiness, of local streams. Water quality monitoring includes doing some basic chemical tests of the stream water, and sampling the aquatic insects that live in the stream. Volunteers can become stream monitors by taking a training class, and then joining a stream monitoring teams. The teams go out to several locations in Arlington County every 3 months.
