Here are two new volunteer opportunities in Arlington:
Sponsor: Arlington Transit -- ART | Location: Arlington, VA 22201
Arlington Transit has launched the Adopt-a-Stop Program as a way to maintain ART bus stops throughout the County and keep them clean. Volunteers will be asked to adopt a bus stop for one year and maintain the stop and pick-up any trash.
Volunteers will be recognized with a sign posted at the adopted stop. This is a great opportunity for individuals, community groups and civic associations to do something positive for the community. Visit arlingtontransit.com/adopt-a- stop to learn more and view a list of adoptable stops.

Research Global Sustainability Plans
Sponsor: Our Task | Location: Arlington, VA 22201
Want to learn more about the environment and sustainability? Then this is the opportunity for you. The human ecological footprint is now 1.5 Earths and we have only 1 Earth. Worse, the footprint is growing and a continuation with business-as-usual implies disaster for young people everywhere. Our Task helps young adults collect alternatives to business-as-usual and plan for achieving global sustainability. We need volunteers to conduct research online and identify "Plan Bs" or alternatives to business-as-usual. Volunteers will enter basic information about the Plan Bs in an on-line form, which will then be used at a local conference on August 11. For more information about the conference, visit http://www.ourtask.org/ programs/earth-2100- conference-2/. Volunteers should have strong web research skills, as well as some knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues and an interest in young people and their future.
