First, a big welcome to our new summer intern Patrick McMenamin. I'm thrilled to have him. He's a fine writer and jumped into his first project with much aplomb.

We were at the Stray Cat Cafe in Westover the other day talking about what his first story should be when he told me about the "Relay for Life" and the Washington-Lee team that he was a part of. Perfect, I thought, and sent him on his way.

He shot some great photos, and covered the story so well, I put it on the slider at the top of our homepage. Thanks, Patrick!

I'm looking forward to everything he'll help with this summer.

Bass season opened in New York last weekend, so I'm off with friends to go catch me some! We'll be back early next week. Don't nobody do nothing while I'm gone. --Steve
