Just a quick word of welcome to Mike Nardolilli. Starting this morning, Mike is writing "The Arlington Green" for the Mercury.

He is the president of the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, and is on the board of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. He's also a reallly nice guy and a good writer.

I hope you enjoy his writing and will come back to our site to see his latest installments. Since he is president of NVCT (their tag line is "saving nearby nature"), he'll be writing about the great outdoors, nearby.

Welcome, Mike!

Blogging at the Mercury:

As a non-profit corporation with a mission to promote community in Arlington, the Arlington Community News Lab, Inc., (the Mercury's parent company) is happy to offer blogging space for people and organizations who wish to have a voice in the community.

Our rules:

  • No politics, polical activity or direct promotion of a ballot measure, candidate, party or similar item.
  • No advertising. We are happy to run pieces about community events or that promote community, but blog posts that read "buy our T-shirts" will not be posted.
  • Editors make final choices regarding the above rules.

We realize there is a potential conflict of interest issue here, and are keeping this in mind as we move forward. If you or your group is interested in starting a blog at the Mercury, please contact editor Steve Thurston (steve@arlingtonmercury.org).
