Although the county board voted only to allow the county manager to pursue purchasing the Thomas Building, most people who came to speak, talked about the use of the building as a homeless shelter.
Supporters of a year-round "Comprehensive Homeless Services Center" wore T-shirts that said, "I helped end homelessness." The T-shirts came from a recent activity in which volunteers counted and interviewed the county's homeless population.
