The market was found through the Arlington office of the Virginia Cooperative Extension service. The Arlington County Courthouse Farmers’ Market opened in 1979. Since at the time only Bethesda and D.C. hosted weekly markets, the market was established in response to county residents’ requests to have a local market to patronize weekly. The market, now in its thirty-first year, continues to promote local farmers’ produce and be an indispensable part of the community. If you’re interested in more information about the market, be sure to visit the Virginia Room at the Arlington County Central Library.
