It was the worst-kept secret in Arlington yesterday when a group of about 30 seniors took to the artificial turf at the county fairgrounds. They danced to a extended mix of the Black-Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling." The purpose of the dance was to showcase dance programs for seniors in Arlington (available in many of the county's community centers), said dance instructor and organizer Kathryn "Kat" Fanelli.

The group hoped for a surprise entrance, but an email sent last week from the county's parks department thwarted that idea. Still, the dancers said they were out there to have fun and to encourage others, and it worked. When they danced an encore, another 30 people joined them out on the field, including a group of like-minded kids.

Watch the video.

It was a production of the Arlington Mercury and Arlington Independent Media. Thank you to Nathan Bynum for his camera work.

Steve Thurston refused to take photos of non-incumbent candidates at the County Fair today. That says it all. Another blog that caters to the ChamberofCommeceCrats.

AIM + Arlingon Mercury = County Board Shills

Typical bunch of upscale Democratic ward heelers, a little older than the usual bunch of Democratic ward heelers.

How about us tapped out middle class seniors who are going to be hit with 4-5% real estate tax increases every year for the next 10 years to pay for Fisette's $80 million aquatics center and Tejada's $65 million indoor soccer arena? Who cares about US?
