DC Bocce's Arlington division has grown from 150 players to 600 in the two years since it has expanded here. The county has plans for bocce fields near the Ballston mall and is looking at a site in Bluemont Park.

Teams play on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Mosaic Park on N. Quincy Street.

No one can say whether the game is just a fad or a lasting change. Players and the county staff like it because it's active yet does not require training, and because it can be played intergenerationally.

Not a fad!! "Throwing balls toward a target is the oldest game known to mankind. As early as 5000 B.C. the Egyptians played a form of bocce with polished rocks." Ready to roll!!
